Case Study Home Automation
Home Automation
- A key feature in all modern homes is Automation. This provides the ability to control heating, lighting and security via mobile devices, voice control and schedules. These home features are utilised everyday therefore it is beneficial to invest in having these automated. This is the same for your window coverings.
- Automated blinds in your home are a complete life changer, it removes the need to manually open your window coverings each morning and close them at night. This seems like an unnecessary option, however once you have experienced motorised blinds you will wonder how you ever coped having to operate them manually!
- Most blinds that we install to link to customers home automation systems are retro fitted using a hub to connect to Wi-Fi. However, we also get involved in some projects during the build phase to have blinds operated via wired automation systems like Crestron, Control4, Rako etc.
- This customer had a Control4 system being installed by their builder, they had recommended linking the blinds and this lead the customer to do some research. We were one of 4 blind companies contacted.
- The customer had quite a few queries about the system and needed advice and recommendations due to the size and shape of some of their windows. We provided detailed information including motor specifications, dimensions of systems and videos of previous projects we’d installed. The feedback was that we were the most helpful and more importantly most knowledgeable company that they approached. This led to them committing to us and we could get more involved speaking to the electrician and home automation company to ensure the necessary cabling was provided for the blinds.
- This project included 31 blinds in total, 24 of these to be operated via Control4.
- From the initial enquiry (01/12/2022) to final fitting date (19/10/2023) we were involved in this project for 10 months.
